Safari Zone

The entrance compound of a vast managed reserve, where the built world stops and the enclosure begins. A long low reception building of dark timber and glass stretches across the approach, its roof a single shallow plane. In front of it a raked gravel forecourt is bounded by clipped hedging and stone kerbs. A tall wire boundary fence runs away in both directions, supported on angled steel posts and topped with a single strand. A wide gate of welded tube stands open in the fence line, its track sunk into the gravel. Beyond the fence the ground changes immediately to unmown grassland running to a distant treeline. Gravelled paths lead off from the gate and fork almost at once. Low route markers of plain painted timber stand at the junctions. The reserve reads as genuinely large, with no far boundary visible. Heat rises off the open ground in the middle distance.
