Celadon City

The largest and wealthiest city in the region, dense with tall buildings and green space in equal measure. Multi-storey blocks in white concrete and green- tinted glass rise around a central plaza, the tallest a broad department store of six stacked floors with continuous window bands. Streets are wide, paved in patterned grey and white slabs, and lined with mature street trees in cast iron grilles. Ornamental fountains play in stone basins at the intersections, throwing spray that drifts across the paving. Rooftop gardens spill greenery over the parapets of the lower blocks. A large glasshouse with a curved roof stands to one side, its panes fogged with interior humidity. Neat beds of clipped box and seasonal planting occupy every corner. A canal runs along one edge, walled in stone and crossed by flat pedestrian bridges. Reflections of glass and greenery double everything at street level. The city is prosperous, ordered and full of colour.
