Money
Where PokeDollars come from, where they go, and what a new account can afford.
In short
- You start with 3,000. Quests, trainers, gym purses and wild battles pay; healing, shops, training passes and breeding charge.
- A wild win pays ten times the defeated Pokemon's level. A route trainer pays a few hundred to a few thousand, once.
- Anything in your bag sells for half its shop price, except key items and the materials, which cannot be sold.
- Blacking out costs you nothing but the walk. There is no money penalty.
Income
| Source | Pays | How often |
|---|---|---|
| Wild battle won | 10 × the Pokemon's level | every encounter |
| Route trainer beaten | up to 4,200, most under 1,000 | once per trainer |
| Gym leader beaten | 6,000 at the first gym, 25,000 at the eighth | once per gym |
| Academy and League chapters | 1,000 and up, with items | once each |
| Side quest | 3,000 to 10,000 plus an item | once each |
| Repeatable town job | 1,500 to 4,000 plus a rotating item | again after a cooldown |
| Selling items | half the shop price | any clerk, anything you carry |
Player battles pay nothing, by design. A trade can carry money on either side, so another player is also a source if you have something they want.
Spending
| Sink | Costs |
|---|---|
| Healing at a Pokemon Centre | one PokeDollar per point of HP and PP restored |
| Poké Balls and medicine | 200 for a Poké Ball, 200 to 3,000 for medicine |
| Specialist balls | 1,000 each |
| Training ground pass | 42,500, 49,500, 56,500 or 63,500 for an hour, by tier |
| Breeding | 1,000 to 20,000 by the Egg's potential |
| Vitamins, held items, TMs | 1,000 and up, from the Fondaco counters as your badges open them |
Healing is the one that sneaks up on you. A party of six fainted level-50 Pokemon is a bill of several hundred; a long day of hunting with no heals in the bag can cost more than the day earned. Potions bought in advance are cheaper per point than the nurse for small damage and dearer for large; the nurse never charges for a status.

What 3,000 buys
Ten Poké Balls and a few Potions, or one tier-1 Egg. A training pass is the big purchase of the mid game: the cheapest is 42,500. The Academy's first quest pays 1,000 and ten Poké Balls on top, and graduation unlocks the first League chapter, which pays 3,000. The money gets easy around the third gym, when side quests open and the purses pass 10,000.
Keeping track
Your balance shows in the Bag, the shop and the Trainer Hub, and every purchase names the shortfall if you are short. There is no bank and no interest; money is a number on your account, moved only by the server.
